Science influences every part of our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity. Science education provides the foundations for understanding the world around us through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
The Science team strive to ignite and nurture a passion for Science to ensure that we are developing future astronomers, engineers, surgeons, research scientists and veterinarians, as well as preparing students for occupations that don’t even exist yet! All students develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through scientific enquiry and practical work. We equip our students with the ability to answer scientific questions about the world around them and make informed decisions in the future. We ensure that students are armed with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
Key Stage 3
You will enhance your working scientifically skills through regular experimental and investigative work. You will be able to evaluate risks and explain how scientific theories develop taking into account new evidence. You will be able to use experimental and secondary data to draw conclusions and evaluate scientific decisions.

Key Stage 4
Combined Science GCSE (double award) or Separate Science GCSE’s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics
The KS4 science curriculum encompasses features of all three sciences, biology, chemistry and physics, which continues to build upon the knowledge and skills from KS3. You will be guided through key aspects of the three sciences which are important for developing and deepening your understanding of the world around you. Science GCSE’s provide a greater foundation for understanding the ever-changing material world within which we live. Scientific advances and understanding are changing our lives for the better. We need to ensure that we are training the scientists of the future to secure sustainable developments. This means that you will be introduced to a wide range of information in many different formats; news articles, data tables, graphs and video footage to name a few, which you will use to analyse, evaluate and form opinions on. You will be helped to appreciate how the complex and varied phenomena of the natural world can be described using a small number of key ideas relating to each of the sciences. You will also develop a greater appreciation of how the sciences are inter-linked, and applied universally.
